Kate Stannard is a Live Artist, Performer and Lecturer in Contemporary Performance Practice at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, Glasgow. She is also a qualified fitness professional and yoga instructor and hers arts practice explores meditative, body based performance actions that question her understandings of self, time and being.

This website is dedicated to her arts practice. For more information on her professional work in the health and fitness industry please visit http://katestannardactivewellbeing.wordpress.com/

Manifesto

“Within my arts practice I search for new ways to understand, engage with and experience my audience, my body, my self, my environment and space.

I feel the increasing need for human connection and through my work I attempt to create situations that open up the possibility for, sometimes brief but, meaningful moments of intimacy between ‘performer’ and ‘audience’.

I am concerned with the psychosomatic, the interrelationship between body and mind. My arts practice is an ongoing exploration of my ‘self’; body, mind, identity, and consciousness, and is heavily influenced by my Journey with Yoga and meditation”

“…Stannard is, despite her young age, already an artist of genuine stature whose work makes living poetry out of what she sees around her…”
